If you subscribe to The Cripplegate, THANK YOU, and we hope this blog has been a blessing to you.
In the next few days you will be getting an important email that says this:
| You received this email because the publisher of the feed The Cripplegate imported you to this list, claiming that you were already subscribed to this content in other ways previously. Please confirm this is correct and you want to receive this content by clicking here, or decline if you don’t want to receive it. |
This is not spam, but is from a new company we are using to send out our emails. If you want to keep getting The Cripplegate posts emailed you, you will need to click the green link to make sure that happens. If you don’t want to keep getting our emails, please click the red button.
The green button = Good!
Red button = Less good, but we understand.
Ignore = Sad ๐
Let me explain the reason for the change. Ever since our blog started (12 years ago!), we have used a service called “Feedburner” to send emails to our subscribers. This service is powered by Google, and they are winding it down. In a sense it is a vestige of the old internet, the Wild West internet of the golden era of blogs, where content was free and emails were plentiful. But that world has gone away, long forgotten, lost to our memories and that old Netzero email you used to have. Google has told us that any moment now, Feedburner will no longer send our emails.
For that reason, we are having to switch email providers. There are lots of different companies that do this, and most of our friend’s blogs use Mail Chimp. We chose to use Follow.it because it is a little cheaper (The Master’s Seminary–Washington DC is picking up the cost), we like the appearance of the posts better, and they have given us assurances that they will not drop us if we post about biblical sexuality–assurances that several other companies were unwilling to give us.
There are also other features that you might find useful. If you set up a Follow.it account you can filter which authors you get, what time you get our emails, and even add other blogs or news sources to our emails.
Finally, for the next week or so, we will leave both Follow.it and Feedburner running, so you might get duplicate emails. We will turn Feedburner off next week, so the duplicate emails will only last for a few days.
So be on the lookout for an email from The Cripplegate that starts with the red and green choices, and re-up your subscription. If you have a hard time doing this, please let us know.
