I want to highlight an eclectic list of lesser-known resources that I have benefited from in my own study of the Bible’s original languages. If you are trying to learn Greek or Hebrew, these can be an encouragement for you. Most of these resources are completely free.
If you truly want to excel in Greek and Hebrew, I am convinced that it is crucial to treat them like actual languages instead of like specimens to dissect; you must internalize them by listening, writing, and even speaking them. Fortunately, there have been many resources developed over the last few years to help you do just that.
Aleph with Beth– These Hebrew YouTube videos are well-produced and free! They are truly one of the best resources you can find to help you learn Hebrew.
KoineGreek.com– Ben Kantor has a large selection of free and helpful Greek resources. You can watch the entire Gospels of Matthew and Mark in Greek, a 25 minute film on the martyrdom of Polycarp, or listen to many biblical texts. Everything is in the reconstructed Koine pronunciation.
Alpha with Angela – Similar to the Hebrew YouTube series, these videos are free and will help you improve your Greek (although the pronunciation is Erasmian instead of the more authentic reconstructed Koine, they are still incredibly helpful).
Glossa House – Glossa House has a ton of Greek and Hebrew resources; not only do they have immersive textbooks, but they have produced stories like Peter Rabbit in Koine Greek, a reader’s edition of the apostolic fathers, illustrated Greek books of Daniel, Matthew, etc., an entire album of original Koine Greek songs, and many illustrated Hebrew books as well.
Omilein – Jordash Kiffiak is an excellent Greek professor. I have personally improved my Greek significantly through attending some of the courses he taught. He now has courses available online. There is a free trial that is definitely worth checking out.
BiblicalLanguageCenter – BLC is really the modern founder of teaching Greek and Hebrew as living languages. They have extensive textbooks and course available online.
LetsReadGreek – A very old-school resource that is now only available through archive.org. There are numerous songs in Greek, as well as some helpful courses that are worth checking out, and they are totally free.
